Our Birds

Over 100 species of Florida birds, including the endangered snail kite, can be seen in the wild at Devils Garden Bird Park.   Below is a checklist supplied in Oct 2010 by Margaret England of Hendry-Glades Audubon, and Vincent Lucas of birds spotted over the course of a year at STA-5.    (This list is not intended to represent birds that have been seen at Devils Garden Bird Park.   We have begun compiling our own list and appreciate visitor feedback through the comments section.)

Was the purpose of flooding the fields to kill the nematodes before sugarcane or some other crop was planted? I’d like to know. Thanks.

I will find out the answer to your question about the flooding, and clarify for you after I speak with the owner.

Okay, the home office says they do the flooding themselves, to kill the rust and the nematodes. And anything else that isn’t supposed to be there. ;-)
